Welcome to ICAR 2012

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I cordially invite you to the 17th International Congress on Animal Reproduction (ICAR) to be held at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on July 29 - Aug. 2, 2012.

Canada is a country in which we enjoy the advantages of large cosmopolitan urban amenities as well as vast expanses of sparsely populated agricultural land and unspoiled natural regions. Vancouver, British Columbia offers the best of both!

Vancouver, a major port on the northern Pacific Rim, is one of Canada’s largest and most vibrant cities with excellent access from anywhere in the world.

Tourism is an important part of the local economy (see Tourism British Columbia video to the right), and Vancouver has hosted some of the world’s largest and most prestigious events, including the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Canada has never hosted ICAR, and we are excited about bringing our Scientific Olympics to Vancouver in 2012.

ICAR 1948

The picture on the left was taken in Milan, Italy at the first ICAR in 1948, and includes icons of animal reproduction, including Sir John Hammond (black hat).

We intend to honor the history of our society and celebrate the increasing importance of the study of reproduction on the social structure of our community, our domestic animals,
our wildlife, and the quality of our environment.

We look forward to welcoming you to Vancouver!
